The Birkenstock Gizeh Essentials EVA Slides are Birkenstock’s classic thong sandal made from a one-piece, molded EVA (a flexible plastic) which is ultra lightweight. These slides come in a bunch of great colors and cost about $50 but you can get them on sale for under $40.

I didn’t like the look of these slides in the store but liked the look and feel of the slides after wearing them. The more I wore them, the more comfortable they became. Even though the design of the slides bends up on the sides, they are still comfortable on my bunions and my feet without rubbing. I preferred these in 38 (7/7.5 US) which makes the slides run true to size to a half size big. The size 37 (6/6.5 US) my feet fit fine too but I tend to like the extra room and would go for the size 38. Note – Birkenstock’s are made in European sizes. To find your size add 31 to your US Women’s shoe size. They do not come in half sizes so size down to the nearest full size.

Birkenstock’s regular size runs wide, making them perfect for those of us with bunions or wide feet. These slides also have good arch support providing stability and they are waterproof, washable, and shock-absorbent. They have a slide buckle on the side making the ankle width adjustable for a better fit.
These slides are a good choice for bunions and wide feet, they’re colorful, affordable (especially when on sale), comfortable and supportive for our unique feet.
