After less than a year of owning the Vionic Activate Recovery Sandal and wearing them only occasionally, the black top part of the buckle on the left shoe came off (see picture above and below).

This was a minor issue so I called Vionic support at 800-832-9255 to see if I could get a replacement part to fix the buckle or a replacement shoe.
The Vionic representative was easy to work with and they told me:
They do not offer repair services.
They do not provide replacement parts.
They do not exchange shoes.
The Vionic rep emailed me their “Defective Item Claim Form” to complete. After completing the form by entering my contact information, details about the defective shoe, purchase price and reason for the return, I mailed the shoes to the address in the form (using USPS tracking as recommended by Vionic).
Address to mail the defective shoes (make sure to include the completed "Defective Item Claim Form") -

Now I just needed to wait to see if they agreed that the shoes are defective so I can get a refund. Vionic’s guidance was that the processing time for defective shoes is 4-6 weeks. For us, the whole process from mailing the shoes back to receiving a refund from Vionic only took about two weeks. The refund for the shoes was returned to the credit card I used to originally purchase the shoes.
Note - I included the shipping receipt with my return and noted the shipping price in the purchase price section but did not receive reimbursement for shipping.
The process to return my defective Vionic shoes was easy, and I received reimbursement quicker than expected. I have a lot of Vionic shoes, and these are the only pair I’ve had issues with (and it was a minor issue). Vionic shoes are expensive but overall, we’ve been impressed with their shoes and customer service.
A few things to know -
- Allow up to four weeks for processing.
- You are responsible for shipping costs.
- You can request a refund of shipping charges (request it on the return form) and include your shipping receipt when mailing in the shoes. If they agree that your shoes are defective, ground shipping charges are supposed to be refunded via a check in the mail. Note – I requested a shipping refund (on the form) but did not receive a refund of shipping via a check in the mail.
- Use a tracking method when mailing the shoes and the claim form.
- Include the original receipt with your paperwork. If the original receipt is not available, the last sale price listed for the style will be the amount they refund.
- The form heading says Caleres, this is the parent company of Vionic.
- They do not consider merchandise defective or damaged under the following conditions (and others not listed):
o Discomfort because blisters occurred from wear.
o Damages caused by misuse, improper care, and/or normal wear and tear.
o Improper fitting or sizing of products.
o Modifications and/or alterations made to the product.
o Damages caused by using solvents, adhesives, detergents, liquids and/or other chemicals.
