Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy – Review

The Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy program can be a great option for shoe shopping, especially for those of us with problem feet. Here’s how the program works:

-        You must be an Amazon Prime Member to use the program.

-        Select items are available on Amazon for Try Before You Buy – Items like shoes, clothing and accessories.

-        Amazon lets you order up to six (6) items at once.

-        You usually receive the items in less than six (6) days after ordering (my first try before you buy order was delivered the next day).

-        You have seven (7) days to try on the items before committing to a purchase and paying for it. 

I purchased a pair of shoes to try Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy. Here are the details -

-        7/16/2024 - I ordered a pair of shoes using Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy.

-        The shoes arrived on 7/17/2024.

-        I have 7 days from the arrival date to decide whether to Keep, Exchange or Return the shoes. I must make my decision by 7/24/2024. 

How to Keep the Product

If you choose to keep the shoes – Click the Keep Button at the bottom of the page in your Amazon App. Next select the yellow Continue button at the top of the page.

You will then be charged for the item.

How to Exchange the Product

If you choose to Exchange the shoes – Click the Exchange Button at the bottom of the page in your Amazon App.

Note: I was not able to exchange the shoes and got the following note when I clicked on Exchange - “This item is either out of stock or unavailable for exchange at this time. You’ll be able to shop for similar styles after completing your order.”   The yellow Continue button at the top of the screen was not highlighted, this meant that Exchange was NOT an option for this shoe.

How to Return the Product

If you choose to Return the shoes – Click the Return button on the Amazon App.

Next choose the reason(s) you’re returning the item. Then click the yellow continue button to the top of the screen. After choosing this option I saw a note that the shoes must be dropped off at the chosen Amazon Return location by Saturday, July 27th.

Return Location Options

Here are the return location(s)/options for returning my Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy product. This will change based on your location and return options.

I chose the UPS Store Dropoff. I was able to drop off the shoes in the shoe box without a label and packaging. Note: When returning Amazon products, I always bring Amazon packaging and packing tape if I’m dropping the products, anywhere other than Whole Foods. Usually, I don’t need packaging or a label, but I’ve had issues twice where I did need these and it wasn’t noted by Amazon in the app.

What to watch out for when using Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy

-           You will be charged if the product is not sent back in its original condition.

-           Pay attention to when the seven-day try-on period ends. If you don’t return the item to Amazon on time, you will need to pay for the item.

-           An Exchange is not an option for all products.

The Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy service was easy and I will use it again. It’s the closest thing to being in a store.  Amazon makes it so easy for you to try on multiple sizes and products which is usually needed for those of us with problem feet.
